What is the Student Visa (Non-ED)?
The Non-Immigrant ED (Education) Visa is for foreigners wishing to pursue full-time studies in Thailand. This includes university courses, mandatory internships, but also language courses (Thai, English) or cultural training (Muay Thai, Cooking) in certified schools.

Length of stay and validity

- Enrollment in a school or university recognized by the Ministry of Education.

Work and authorized activities
Prohibition of Work
The Student Visa formally prohibits working in Thailand. This includes freelance work or "Digital Nomadism" if discovered. Exception: Some official university internships or on-campus jobs may be authorized under strict conditions.
Renewal and extensions
The visa is generally issued for 90 days. It must be extended every 90 days at immigration (1,900 THB) upon presentation of a letter from the school confirming your attendance. The total maximum duration is often 1 year for language schools.
